Bassbaba
is known for his nice grooves, excellent use of different bass playing
techniques, and mostly, for his quite frequent bass solos in Aurthohin's
songs.He often did bass slaps, taps & bass solo's in Aurthohin's
album & live concerts.
That's why his fan named him Bassbaba(Father of Bass).
An
amazing vocal with Dark voice Bassbaba sang couple of epic song in BD
rock history.He did a lot of melodic acoustic numbers and extremely
heavy metal number.
It's quite unbelievable that a person who sang
Odvut Shei Cheleti or
Amar Protichobi or
Sagor O Ekti Chele also did extreme metal track like
Mrittu'r sohor,
Guti Series,
Nirbodh,
Attohonon,
Surjo,
Itihash etc.
Bangladesh
is a country where Rock Music, specially Metal and Alternative Rock, is
getting popular in early 2000 and Bassbaba Sumon is credited as one of
the few most influencing artists in this sector. He has, almost single
handedly, changed the role of bass guitar in Bangladeshi Music.It is
said that Bass playing has become a hugely attractive thing to the young
music lovers of this country almost only because of the influence of
Bassbaba Sumon. He is also a key figure along with
Duray,
Jewel in promoting Rock music in this country.
Since 2002 he uses a custom made
MTD
5 string Bass and has become a MTD (www.mtdbass.com) Affiliate.He is
the only bassist in this sub-continent who use a custom made bass.
Bassbaba is the one of the best song writer in Bangladeshi music history.He wrote

Bassbaba starts his musical journey with couple of his school friend forming a band named
Rock Phantom in
1986.At the same time he play bass for
Jolly Rogers,
Sweet Venom &
Silence in 1986 to 1990.
All
those band's cover rock & metal from 70's & 80's Bands.In those
day's he play with Sunjoy,Piklu,Jewel in those bands.
In year 1992 he did a couple of live show's with Warfaze as guest bassist.
In year 1990 Bassbaba join his first big band
Feelings(Nagor Baul).
with them he first time start recording, in 1992 Feelings release their 2nd album "
Jail theke bolchi".
Which was an instant hit.But Sumon did not satisfied with the music of Feelings he want's to do something different.
He left the band in 93 & start playing as session bassist & did guest appearances with
ARK,In Dhaka &
Rock Bridge.
In 1994 he join
ACES.But they can't continue their musical journey & disbanded very soon.
In 1995 he form his Band
Shabda with Turjo(Miles) & Rubayet.But after a year other member left the band

In year 1996 Bassbaba join Bangladeshi Pioneer Rock/Metal Band
Warfaze.
with Warfaze bassbaba did a lot's of live show's around the country.
In year 1997 Sumon's first solo project album(1st project album in Bangladesh) "
Sumon O Aurthohin"
was released under the banner G-series.That album was recorded at
1993-94 with some of most talented/amazing musician like Fuad ibn
Rabbi,Russel Ali,Kamal,Sunjoy,Chintu,Piklu did music for Bassbaba.But
none of any recording label show any interest on it.Music was more of a
passion for Bassbaba Sumon and at a time of his experimental and heavy
metal pursuits,he could not fit in the album
Sumon O Aurthohin into the existent market.
On
his voice “At one time I had no hope that album will release; because
record labels wanted commercial songs and it got me frustrated,”
That album was the biggest hit of 1997 & one of the most saled album of all time.
Album
contains 15 tracks.All those songs are written,composed by Sumon
himself(Except "Aurthohin") & voiced by Sumon &
Sunjoy(Vocal-Warfaze) except Shopner Dar(voiced by Shompa Reza &
Sumon).Instruments played by various musicians.
After that album Sumon perform in verious concerts with his friends ; and they called Sumon O Aurthohin.
In 1998 Warfaze release their 4 th studio Album
Asamajik.That album was a big hit.Bassbaba did
Protichobi (Written,compose & voice)on Ashamajik.That was also a big hit at that time.

After the huge success of "
Sumon O Aurthohin" Bassbaba formed his own Band "Aurthohin".
It's quite tough for him to maintain two Band & he left Warfaze in 1999.
That
was a revolutionary period for Bangladeshi Rock history lot's young
Band's want's to produce different genre different music but Mainstream
bands & recoding labels are not interested on them.
On those day's Aurthohin release their 1st studio album titled
Trimatrik under the banner of G-series.That was a big hit.That time Bassbaba with
Isha Khan Duray,
Khaled
(Owner of G-series) decide to help all those young fellas who produce
so different & meaningful music .They start a movement Underground .
Under the banner of G-series in 2000 to 2005;
Duray release 4 band compilation album titled Charpotro(2000),Onushilon(2001),Din Bodol(2003) & Lokayot(2004)
Bassbaba release 3 band compilation titled Agontuk(2003),Agontuk 2(2004) & Agontuk 3(2005).
& the Bands came out from those albums are
Artcell!!!,
Cryptic Fate(though they release an album people don't know much about them before UG),
Black,Stentorian,Arbovirus,Nemesis,Poizon Green,dNA,Ashor,Vibe,Reborn & lot.
with the help of Bassbaba,Duray early 2000 these bands show a new test of music to Bangladesh.
at the same time Bassbaba with his Band Aurthohin release 3 more albums...
Biborton(2001),Notun Diner Michile(2002) & Dhrubok(2003).
among them
Biborton was one of the block-blaster hit on BD music history.
Notun Diner Michile was an experimental album by Aurthohin.That album was not sale as much other Aurthohin album.In
Dhrubok Aurthohin show two most future rockstar of nation Rafa & Shishir. That album was a big hit of 2003.
Shortly
after Aurthohin's 4th album 'Dhrubok' got released Bassbaba's health
deteriorated. Due to his illness the band stopped almost all the
gigs.In 2005 his jaw got dislocated.Doctors told him to give up singing
permanently. Chances of recovery were very low. Aurthohin stopped all
their activities, Bassbaba and the others were planning to disband. But
suddenly things began to change as he was getting well. Doctors
considered it as a miracle.
After his recovery Aurthohin Start their journey with a new dimension.In 2006
Kamal(The legendary guitarist) join the lineup & among those who hate Aurthohin from their heart they even say's "
Musically/Instrumentally no other Band can even closer to Aurthohin."

Aushomapto 1(2008)which was one of the top selling album of 2008 &
for
Aushomapto 1;Aurthohin receive 2 awards of Best Band of the Nation by Channel I & Prothom Alo.

video was top hit's in youtube.They did a lot's of live shows around
the nation & in 2010 they signed a contract with Banglalink.Now they
